A Drastic Change in plans!

How Our Whole Plan Changed~

A Story Before the planning:

Well, it started off with me getting fascinated by this whole spiritual perception in music videos. I really liked the idea of introducing a song that perhaps shows a journey of someone to spirituality, perhaps finding his/her purpose in life, and then a journey that is towards peace. So, I suggested this idea to my teammate Eiman Tanzeem, and at that time, she was 50-50 about it. She was like, I'm not sure, but we can see what our other team member says, Neha Qamar. After that, since I was already researching on this idea and seeing music videos and listening to songs inspired by these, I went to my friend Neha, my team member, and I asked her if she would like this idea, and she actually said yes. She said, "I would love that idea. I feel like we can execute it very well". So, then we decided to convince our other team member, Eiman Tanzeem, on this idea, and soon, long story short, we were all on board.

We wanted to create an amazing story inspired by Humaira Ahmed's novel Alif. This girl and a boy who have this drastic change of events, a guy who is an outcast, and a girl who is a dancer, and the guy basically just gets lost in her beauty...He calligraphs, so he gets lost in her beauty, and he forgets to calligraph. So, we were showing a perspective of how his calligraphy was his spiritual connection, but due to loving a human instead of another greater being, he lost his passion. So, that story revolved around his struggles as not being accepted for his interest in simplicity and spirituality. It was his journey towards a peaceful life.

Since that idea included so much hard work and execution, for instance, it included us getting grand costumes because we wanted to depict the main lead as a dancer. So, for that, we would need various fancy outfits, which were out of our budget to arrange. Then we needed locations that were very fancy for parties and big food gatherings in Pakistani culture. We wanted to show the higher elite classes in which he would not adjust. So, that was just not possible to execute because of the cost. Besides that, we also had this other contradiction because this topic was kind of controversial, too. It would include a lot of stereotypes, and it would definitely include women from a different perspective, a sort of objectification of women. So, we wanted to avoid that as well.

Overall, after mutual agreement, we decided that we should let go of this idea because it's for the best. Even though we were really excited for it, we thought that this idea was just not possible within our time frame and within our budget limits. It would cost us more, and it would take more time, and traveling to different locations would be very hard. Getting permissions from our parents would be very hard. So, overall, this was just impossible at the moment. Therefore, we let go of this idea and decided to go for something unique and a different approach. And that's when we settled on fighting the cultural norms of Pakistan by showing the struggles of a man in society.
